Hooks and Needles Group
Hooks and Needles is a group which was led by Sally Metzker. It’s comprised of people who enjoy knitting and crocheting. One of our missions was to make blankets for the hospice patients to let them know someone was praying for them. The group has made several blankets which will be blessed during a service in January 2026 in Sally’s honor.
The group will be meeting for a soup luncheon in Fellowship Hall on Thursday, February 5th at 12:00 to discuss resuming fellowship. If you think you would like to be part of the group, whether you’re an expert or just learning, please join us. (You can come if you just like to eat soup too!) Call Diane Brown, 570-494-7349, if you plan to attend or if you have any questions.

IMPORTANT
~ Please have all giving that is to be credited to 2025 in to the church by December 28, 2025. Thank you for your understanding.
This includes all donations you wish to make towards the ‘Raise the Roof’ Campaign. The IRS ruling is that the donation must be paid in 2025 to be considered a Non-Taxable donation on your 2025-Income Tax Return. Donations made after December 28th will   be credited to the 2026-Income Tax Year.

Advent Giving Tree
We will once again be offering ornaments for our Advent Giving Tree. This year we are looking forward to the entire tree being filled with two sizes of angels. If you would like to purchase an ornament in honor or memory of a loved one, please fill out an Advent Giving Tree card (located on the round table in the lounge), attach your money or check made payable to Saint John’s-Newberry UMC and place it in the basket on the table or the offering plate. We are asking for a minimum donation of $10 per small angel and $15 per large angel. The proceeds will go to “Raise the Roof.” Please fill out an Advent Giving Tree tag, and using the string, attach your ornament to the tree. Following Christmas, you may remove your ornament from the tree and take it with you.
